Vinegar is Amazing!

For years I've used vinegar as a cleaning supply, an anti-static additive for the dryer, and, of course, cooking. Today, I learned something new; vinegar is excellent for killing mold

The backstory: I feel like I'm always fighting mold in the bathroom. Doesn't matter how much ventillation. Doesn't matter how often I clean. Of course, the favorite mold growth area is the ceiling. I've always used bleach, and occasionally other bathroom cleaners. Today I decided to tackle it yet again.

However, being on leave to get control of my medical issues means I now have time to research. Maybe there is a better way. Perhaps someone has a magical solution that will spray on, kill it, and not leave white spots all over my clothing.

So I went online and searched. Since I prefer to use products that are more natural than derived I was drawn to information about vinegar and hydrogen peroxide. Seems Borax is also useful. This resource actually sums up what I was finding: https://howtohometips.com/how-to-clean-mold-off-bathroom-ceiling-with-vinegar/

Now, to figure out how I could make this work.  I have a couple of gallons of vinegar, a spray bottle, chronic pain, poor balance, and a lack of understanding of my own limitations.

I took a sturdy stool, strapped my legs in place, and sprayed part of the ceiling.  My arm wasn't up for an entire bottle of vinegar, but I needed to test this first.  Once my body screamed to stop I set a two hour timer.

Two hours was a good amount of time for my arm to recover enough.  I strapped myself to my trusty stool again and used a large rag soaked in warm water to rub the ceiling.  The mold spots disappeared, something the bleach never accomplished.

It Worked!!

I figure it will take me about 5 more days to do the entire bathroom ceiling.  But it makes me happy to know I might have killed the mold.
